APPLICATIONSCharacters must be believable. No complete geniuses, no perfect looking or gets-all-the-girls or -guys type people. Mary-Sue’s and Gary-Sue's we call them. No characters that are 24/7 100% depressed all the time. If you try to create one of these characters, make it believable--back it up with a good, solid history and give them a round personality. Remember: everyone has flaws.
Post the applications and wait for it to be approved. Be patient; we are not on 24/7. Do not post until your character is accepted. If you do, your character will be automatically rejected.
Please have your character portrayed by a celebrity; it is so much easier on everyone this way. And don’t forget to post them in the face claim.
You may have as many characters as you like. You can have one jumper free but any more and you'll have to buy them from the store. You earn 5 Loot with every post. We have a store with many things to purchase as you earn more Loot. You can also earn Loot by participating in contests and games so have fun!
Do your best with your character application. Your application is what other people see as representing your writing abilities. Let them see your skill, not your laziness.
CHARACTERS & POSTINGPlease post only in Third Person POV.
We understand that cursing is a part of characterization. Thus, characters may swear as much as they wish, but please, do not go overboard. There is a list that the staff uses to allow and deny swear words. Be prepared for some of your words to be altered if you do curse in your posts.
In connection with the above, we understand that some characters are not perfect angels. They have their own opinions and their own ways of thinking. These may include sexist, racist, or generally immoral and while you may allow your character to exemplify any of these--and more--make sure you are keeping it at a reasonable level. If your character becomes excessive, your post will be removed. When possible, be vague. If your character does exemplify any of these traits, it would be beneficial to you to make a note on your post something to the nature of:
"Opinions expressed in this post are views held by the character, not necessarily those of the author. No offense is intended."
Grammar and spelling are important. There is a spell check on the site and, in your profile, you can set it to 'draft' your post as you are writing in case you lose it.
No Godmoding or Powerplaying. It's annoying and inappropriate and disrespectful. You control your own character, not anyone else's. If you think you're writing something that could be considered Powerplaying, talk to the other member(s) of your thread to make sure that what you are writing is okay with them. And if it is not, don't do it/change it. No character is all-powerful; remember those flaws.
If a thread is specifically for certain characters put the characters name(s) in brackets in the description. If anyone can join, either put [open] in the title somewhere, or simply leave out the brackets altogether.
If your thread is pushing the limits of a PG-13 rating, put the rating in the title. A staff member will then look over the thread and determine if the thread needs to be ended or if the members simply need to just make the scene more vague. For example, if your characters are getting pretty hot n’ heavy, cut it to black. Finish it in PMs if you wish. Same with a long and gory fight.
This is a semi-literate site, and we'd like for each post to be at least 200 words. If you need some help coming up with the minimum, talk to a staff member or check out the Writing Advice board.
Also, once a thread is dead, please post a reply stating that it is completed and let a staff member know. This is to reduce clutter on the board and to keep it organized. Also, any threads that are inactive for a month will be moved.
If you would like to start a Dead Post up again, you will need to PM a staff member to let them know. It will be moved to it's original spot afterward and you can continue posting from there.
ACTIVITYTo keep the site fairly active, we'd like everyone to have at least 1 post a week. You don't have to reply to every thread, just one. But remember, if you're going to have an important character, we'll be expecting more out of you.
If you are planning on being gone for more than a week, let us know in the Absence board.
If your characters are involved in a main plot, then they really have got to be active. Every character is important and to get plots moving, we would like everyone to be on as often as possible.
Have an idea for a sub-plot? Submit it to the Plotting board on the main page. There, you can talk plot all you want with the other members and staff. If you need boards added, talk to a staff member.
OUT OF CHARACTERBe kind to everyone, we are all trying to have fun here. Respect should be given to all staff, members, and guests. And try to be helpful. If a new member or guest asks a question, try your best to answer it or direct them to someone who can.
No excessive swearing, especially toward another member or guest.
Images may not stretch the boards. Maximum size for a signature is 500x300px and maximum size for avatars is 100x150px.
THE STAFFRespect all the staff equally. If you think we are unfair, then talk to us. We are reasonable about most things. Obviously the rules are to be followed but things happen.
To become a moderator, you can PM any of the staff and tell them you are interested. If you have proven you can stay active and are trustworthy, you may be chosen as a moderator. Please understand if you do not get anything. We can only have so many mods for the amount of members on the forum. At the current time, moderators are not needed.
The rules are subject to change as the forum grows!
