Ranches A lot of ranchers have kept up their ranches through the years, hiring cowboys on a come-and-go basis. All these ranches are far out of town, 'out on the range' you might say. The herds graze in large, frenced areas and herds are kept seperate, though cattle are still branded. Ranchers are always looking for more help, men or women. Small herds are driven into Hooker once every two months and into bigger cities once a year. |

Indian Tribes For good or bad, Oklahoma is populated with Indians. Some are friendly, on nice terms with the white men. Some are a bit stand-offish but will accept white men among them with a little convincing. Others, however, you best keep a distance from. Whether their threat is from past tales and legends or present killings, some of these Indians should be avoided at all costs. Various tribes include Shawnee, Apache, Caddo, Comanche, Kiowa, & Wichita. |
