•• full name: Andrew Todd Lockwood
•• nicknames: Drew, Todd
•• age: Seventeen
•• birth era: Victorian
•• date of birth: August 24th

•• your character’s body: In comparison with his brother, Andrew looks fairly average. At a mere 5'10, he doesn't have his brother's height, pale skin or lankiness. Instead, he has a healthier complexion and build. He is naturally somewhat muscular, but having never taken much care to build it up, this is nothing noticeable. He lets his brown, wavy hair grow out fairly long simply out of habit and carelessness (as well as a reluctance to actually go to a barber). He has a rounder, child-like face and expressive brown eyes that encourages others to trust him more easily.
Andrew also carries himself in a manner much unlike his brother's. Rather than the haughty attitude Simon adopted to fend off judgment, Andrew took quite the opposite approach. He bows his head low to avoid the eyes of others and keeps to himself with an air of humility in public, afraid of attracting any unnecessary attention. He shows every sign of expected respect and bears every social burden of his class without complaint. Most of his movements are careless and even clumsy at times.
In more intimate company, however, Andrew is a bit more open, often giving a small smile to anyone who meets his eye. He tries his best to appear presentable in society, but often ends up looking messy again if he is not attentive. Due to his habit of drawing, his hands and clothes are often smudged with charcoal, and his hair tends to be forever tousled from a nervous habit of running his hands through it.
•• clothes: Andrew's wardrobe, due to his family's financial status, is very limited. Most of his clothes are years old and visibly worn. To make up for this, he tries his best to keep everything in a good condition and does all he can to mend any damages, though his unskilled handiwork is often easy to spot. His clothes are common, without any style or bright colors, and faded due to their long commission. The only new thing he owns is a suit that he received as a present from his older brother, and he often has to use this whenever his normal clothes aren't fit for the occasion.

•• hobbies: Drawing, Painting, Reading, Writing, People watching, Cooking, Day dreaming, Exploring, Taking care of his mother
•• general personality: Andrew is a good deal more reserved and mature than most boys his age. Having grown up with such responsibility, though he enjoyed his childhood, he never had much time for simply having fun. In some senses, he is quite practical, while in others he is overwhelmingly naive. He is calm and patient, and for the most part unable to hold any grudge. He can't stand the feeling of stress, and does his best to tackle any situation, no matter how difficult, just one step at a time. He has a steady, even temper and a slow, calm manner of speaking.
His father being deceased, his two older siblings out of the house, and his mother almost bedridden in her illness, a lot of household chores (as well as that of taking care of their mother) fall solely on Andrew's shoulders, though he does receive aid from both his brother and his uncle from time to time. In his free time, rather than going out to spend time with his peers, Andrew remains in his home, somewhat reclusive both out of shame and shyness. He spends a lot of time drawing or writing, loving these hobbies above all for the ability it gives him to communicate without compromise. He is fond of animals and most children.
In public, he is careful to show the proper respect and follows social rules/expectations the best that he can. Afraid of judgment and embarrassment, he does his best to merely blend into the crowd and guards himself against false trust. Though he takes a while to warm up to strangers, he is loyal and generous with his friends almost to a fault. Once someone has gained his trust, Andrew does his best to be worthy of the relationship. He is selfless and kind in his own quiet way. Though he can often be oblivious, he does his best to make others happy.
Due to his situation, Andrew received a limited education, but attempts to compensate for this through his reading. Though he isn't the quickest or the smartest, he is able to get through most hardship with patience and determination. He works hard at every task, and seeks out the odd job every now and then when funds are short, against his mother's wishes. Though he has a somewhat complicated relationship with his family, Simon in particular, he treats every member with proper respect regardless of his view on their actions.

•• general history: Andrew's father was 34 years old and a practicing surgeon when he married. Having lived to such a ripe age without even the hint of a serious relationship, many of his friends and family had simply given up on the notion of the man’s ever marrying. So, when he announced his engagement to the young Corrine, it created quite a stir. The girl was just over ten years younger, and Andrew—having always been ailing—was well past his prime. He had spent a fair amount of time in America at the beginning of his medical career and had gathered a small sum of money. Apparently this, in addition to his wasting health, was enough to convince Andrew Sr. to retire from his bachelor life.
If it weren’t for this money, the marriage may never have taken place. It wasn’t merely the issue of age that had deterred Corrine’s mother from accepting, for then such a thing was hardly a rarity. What concerned her more was the man’s lack of status and his outrageous habits. While in “The West” as she liked to call it with a sneer, the man had seemingly been robbed of any elegance that may have been bred into him. However, her daughter's insistence and the girl's impending age finally won her mother over. Corrine herself had, in her day, been quite the prospect. Her entire family had been stunned when, after turning away suitor after suitor, she was threatening to become a spinster at the age of 24. Therefore, this offer of marriage was regarded more kindly by her family in light of their recently limited options.
Andrew Sr. and Corrine married mere months after the proposal was accepted and had their first child, a daughter, less than a year later. A son soon followed, and the family lived for several years in their own happy way. When Andrew was 42, he died of tuberculosis. Shortly after his death, Corrine had a third child, a boy she named in honor of his deceased father, and fell into illness herself. With their sole source of income gone, the family was forced to rely on savings and soon ran into poverty.
The oldest son was offered an apprenticeship by their uncle and was soon sent away to provide a small income for the family. For years, tension between Corrine and her daughter grew until, at the age of sixteen, she eloped and dropped all contact with her family. Corrine did her best to take care of her one remaining child, but was soon unable to fight her fading health. At this point, most of the work relied on Andrew. She did her best to help the boy with any advice and guiltily tried to pay him back for the unfair burden.
It wasn't until the boy was nearly ten that he realized the cause for this mother's mysterious illness. Upon receiving a medal formerly belonging to this grandfather, he was transported to a new era. Though he encountered nothing fearful or dangerous, Andrew was terrified by the experience and kept it to himself for fear of sounding insane. When, at last, he did mention it to Corrine in the context of a dream, she showed immediate concern and explained to him what had happened: How she too had been capable of this, and her travels had caused her extreme feebleness as she spent more and more time in the past searching for her late husband. She forbade him from using this skill, and Andrew readily agreed.
Though Corrine's pride had kept her youngest son from work, the situation soon grew desperate, and Andrew was forced to take small jobs in secrecy for extra money. Corrine's situation worsened almost daily, and, after some time of this, they decided it would be best to sell most of their possessions and move closer to Simon in case of emergency. Though Simon came occasionally to see his younger brother, it was clear that he was ashamed by the poor situation, and Andrew resented him for his loftiness, thus repelling most attempts at reconciliation. Though he still loved and respected his brother, still relied heavily upon him from their sole income, he was frustrated by Simon's haughtiness and complete lack of concern for their mother. For this reason and several others, though they now lived in the same city, Simon had just about as much contact with his family as before.
